Gary Hood is a proud Navy Veteran himself. And now, he's a VA Accredited Attorney - enabling him to give back by directly representing and advocating for Veterans seeking disability compensation from the Department of Veterans Affairs. We specialize in cases involving cancer diagnoses and related complex conditions, helping former warriors fight their most important battle.
As any Veteran knows, the United States military's "top of the top" tactical units are called Tier One Units - think DEVGRU (Seal Team 6) and Delta Force. Rigorously selected, intensely trained, and optimally mission-focused, these units execute the most challenging, strategically important missions, for which failure is not an option.
In our work helping Veterans at the VA, we commit and apply the same mission-driven focus and relentless mindset to the VA disability process that our military Tier One Units do in combat. What they bring to the battlefield, we bring to what can be a confusing and complex legal maze. And we specialize in doing so for those Veterans facing what is often the fight of their lives.
We've been there ourselves, so we understand the challenges you face - not only with a life-threatening medical diagnosis, but to obtain the benefits that our Nation promised you for serving. We are here for you - to fight for you, and to guide you through the VA process.
For most of us, hiring a lawyer can be a daunting experience. But it need not be. At Tier One Law, we believe strongly in integrity and transparency. So we want you to understand up front what hiring us means.
First, when we agree to handle an initial VA disability claim, we do not charge any fees. Doing so, in fact, is improper, and anybody who says they'll charge you for this service is a claims shark.
Second, for legal representation after any initial VA claim denial including for appeals, we charge a contingency fee. That is a percentage of any past-due benefits awarded the Veteran by the VA. We utilize the VA's direct payment fee approach, charge what the VA has determined to be a reasonable fee, and are paid directly by the VA but only if we are successful in assisting the Veteran in obtaining a monetary award.
The United States Department of Veterans Affairs is responsible for administering a broad array of Veterans' services. These include not only disability benefits, but health care, housing, Veterans transition from military service, spousal support, education, burial, and others.
